German luxury car manufacturer BMW has launched the stylish and trendy 6 Series Convertible with a powerful engine, class-leading features and comfortable cabin to strengthen its position in the convertible segment in the Indian auto market at Rs 75 lakh. It has also rolled out 6 Series convertible in one variant '650i' on Indian roads. Striking design, advanced drive technologies, ample luxury amenities and driver assistance safety system are highlights. The coupe is offered in a 650i petrol variant and a 640d diesel variant. The petrol variant is equipped with a 4.4 L twin-turbo V8 engine and the diesel variant is packed with a frugal 3.0L diesel engine. The BMW 6 Series price for the diesel variant is tagged at Rs 85 lakh to mark the difference between both the models at Rs 10 lakh.

Mileage, Average and Fuel Economy
The mileage offered by BMW 6 series 650i convertible is 9.5 kmpl. BMW 6 Series 650i coupe that operates on the same engine as the convertible i.e. a 4.4 litre petrol engine. But mileage is hardly matters if you want to poses luxury car.
The 6 series convertible is available in 650i variant and is offered with a two-wheel drive configuration. The 650i has a powerful 4.8L V8 engine that combines impressive performance with exceptional smoothness. It delivers a outstanding 362 bhp of power at 6300 rpm and 490 Nm of torque at 3400 rpm. It goes from 0-100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds. The engine is mated to a 6-speed Sport Automatic transmission that assures a smooth and effortless drive. The convertible is built with a double wishbone front suspension and an integral rear suspension made of aluminum that reduces weight and ensures an even distribution of load between the front and rear axles.
The BMW 650i Convertible is easily the best-looking topless car from among the ones available in India. The new BMW 6-Series Coupe was much improved from its predecessor, but there is always room for improvement and AC Schnitzer has found it. The front is taken by the Bi-Xenon headlights that have the BMW Corona rings and also house the LED turn lights in it very neatly. The tuner opted for a new front spoiler, a chromed front grille, and chrome strips which can be fitted either as a set or individually for the front of the vehicle, while the back got a new rear spoiler, a rear skirt insert, and a loading edge protector film. The final touch was provided by a new set of 21" Type VIII Racing Forged alloy wheels in BiColor. Most of these changes were done solely to improve on the 6-Series Coupe aerodynamics for better performance. Fog lamps are not placed on the bumpers, the reason being the adaptive headlamps that take care of the lights during tricky, foggy, or dull conditions. The bonnet is slightly pouted with soft crease lines on it that mate with the grill down to the front bumper. The soft top of the BMW 650i is made of a special cloth material and has many layers on it, making it waterproof and helping in sound damping. There are supports for the soft top placed inside the layers that fold with it.
The BMW 650i Convertible, owing to its large proportions, has a huge cabin space that is mainly driver-oriented. BMW 6-Series comes with a number of high tech standards: a leather wrapped steering wheel with cruise control that tilts and telescopes electronically, and buttons for the audio system and Bluetooth, a rear-view camera, push button start, Drive a system that combines entertainment, navigation and telephone functions navigation, an auxiliary input jack, HD Radio, automatic climate control and a nine speaker audio system. Reddish-brown leather upholstery is given, although you also have an option of choosing between ivory white and an all black shade of leather. Front seats are all electric and have settings for height, reach, tilt lumber, and also a seat extension for under-thigh support that also works electrically. The dash has a nice thick coat of black leather with a red stitch lining on it. You have fine wood inserts on the dash and all around the door panels and also a strip of aluminum that runs across the dash and door panels. Floor the pedal and it is sure that one head will hit the headrest and in a wink when doing 100 kmph plus speeds.
Engine Capacity and Performance
In its standard version, the 6-Series Coupe uses a 4.4-liter V-8 engine that develops a total of 400 HP and 450 lb-ft of torque, but AC Schnitzer has managed to increase the total output to an impressive 540 HP. This increase leads to a 0 to 60 mph sprint time of 4.3 seconds, an improvement over the standard 4.8 seconds.
The BMW 6 series has 19-inches super light alloy wheels that have the 5 V-spoke alloy styling that is in carbon grey shade with 245/40 R19 low profile tyres in the front and 275/35 R19 tyre specs at the rear. This mix low-profile tyre specs is purposely implemented to get the best drive and ride ability out of the 6 series and keeping the drag percentage to the lowest at high speeds. BMW 6 Series wheels are equipped with Run-flat tyres system, Tyre Pressure Monitor which gets automatically activated if tyre pressure loss is 25% or more.
Braking and Handling
The car has all aluminum brake calipers on the ventilated disc brakes that have an auto-drying function as standard, combined with the standard ABS and EBD. The double wishbone suspension system is tailor-made for this model and is quite impressive. BMW 6 series cars are equipped with world class features like Cornering brake control, Ventilated four-wheel disc brakes, Electronic brake distribution, Electronic traction control (via ABS & engine management), Immobilizer, Driver selectable responsive suspensionfeatures: electronic-control, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) stability control and Independent front strut suspension with stabilizer bar and coil springs, independent rear multi-link suspension with stabilizer bar and coil springs.The 650i has a nice and stable handling as with all BMW cars, the steering is perfect to what one desires and keeps the driver in command at all speeds.
Handling and Safety
BMW 6 series are fitted with a range of standard safety equipment that includes front airbags, head-thorax side airbags integrated into the seat frame, three-point automatic belts for all seats, belt force limiters and front belt tensioners, ISOFIX child seat mounts in the rear and a roll-over protection system. The roll-over system further developed specifically for the new BMW 6-Series Convertible consists of two bars placed behind the rear head restraints. As soon as the central safety electronics register a danger of the car rolling over, the pyrotechnic release mechanism is activated, at which point the high-strength aluminum bars rise up from their rest position in a fraction of a second.
